It sure seems like the world is actively crumbling around us, and Bard of the Apocalypse is here to meet the onset of dystopia with soaring choruses, amusing lyrical insights, and sick riffs to keep you warm at night.
Triangulating themselves right in the sweet spot amid Wilco, The War on Drugs, and Father John Misty, Bard of the Apocalypse hails from Swannanoa, NC and delivers hand-crafted songs about living hard and loving well, just in time for the falling apart of things.
If not now, when?
Whether performing solo or in its five-piece form, Charlie Murphey's instantly recognizable voice and potent lyrics lead the charge, making audiences laugh and cry in equal measure. Divorce, spiritual deconstruction, anxiety patterns, and pizza are all on the table (although there's not always pizza).
Sweeping flavors of succulent pedal steel and juicy, medium-rare organ and synth surround Murphey's guitar and rest on a rock-solid rhythm section to tantalize and delight listeners.
Things are tough all over, so lend us your ears and we'll get through this together. The apocalypse can wait.
